Benfica crush Cliftonville's Women Champions League dreams

Benfica edged out Cliftonville, 8x1, on Wednesday, in a match relating of the Women Champions League. Both the encarnados and John McGrady's team held their first game in the competition. Lúcia Alves runned the show.

After 24 minutes, Marie Alidou opened the scoring for Benfica, through a header. In an unlucky moment Rachael Norney scored an own goal with 34 minutes on the clock. With 36 minutes on the clock, Lúcia Alves doubled the lead for André Vale's team, with a right-foot strike inside the penalty area. With 73 minutes on the clock, André Vale's team extended their lead with a goal from Lúcia Alves with a left-foot shot inside the penalty box. After 76 minutes, Beatriz Nogueira netted the final goal of the game, through a header inside the box.

With this result, Benfica are into the next round of the competition. In the next fixture, the encarnados will play at home against SFK Riga. Meanwhile, Cliftonville will play against FC BIIK.
