Gent eased past Standard Liège in a fantastic win on Friday, 5-1, in a game relating to matchweek 1. In this competition, both teams came from a win. In the starting XI there was Marlon Fossey.
The first goal of the game was scored by Mathias Fernandez-Pardo, after 23 minutes. In an unlucky moment Julien de Sart scored an own goal after 28 minutes.
With 53 minutes on the clock, Omri Gandelman struck the second goal for Gent. In the 72nd minute, Hein van Haezebrouck's team increased their lead with a goal from Pieter Gerkens.
