Boavista beat Benfica

Boavista overcame Benfica in a close win on Monday, 3x2, on to matchday 1 of the Primeira Liga. Both Petit's team and Roger Schmidt's team played their first game in the competition. Róbert Bozeník runned the show.

After 22 minutes, Ángel Di María opened the scoring for Benfica, with a left-foot strike.

With 90 minutes already on the clock, Boavista saw forward leave the game early with a direct red card. In stoppage time, Róbert Bozeník netted the final goal of the game.
