Villarreal celebrate narrow win over Real Betis

Villarreal beat Real Betis, 2-3, on Sunday, in a game relating to matchweek 28. To this matchday, Manuel Pellegrini's team came from a defeat, and Marcelino Toral's team came from two wins.

The opening goal was scored by Guido Rodríguez with 30 minutes on the clock. After 40 minutes, Álex Baena struck for Villarreal, with a right-foot shot inside the penalty box. Shortly before the interval, Willian José fired home Real Betis second goal, with a right-foot strike.

In a very unlucky moment, Sokratis Papastathopoulos scored an own-goal after the break. Alexander Sorloth scored the winner in the 67th minute with a left-foot shot inside the box. With 70 minutes on the clock, Alberto Moreno saw a red card after receiving his second yellow with 70 minutes on the clock, Manuel Pellegrini's team saw Chimy Ávila get sent off due to accumulation of yellows.

After the result Real Betis are 7th in the table, with 42 points, while Villarreal sit 11th place, with 35 points. With regard to the next fixture, Marcelino Toral's team will host Valencia, whilst Manuel Pellegrini's team visit Rayo Vallecano.
